Another leather amulet, this time with the Norse Aegishjalmr encircled by the Elder Futhark.

Traditionally worn on the forehead, the Aegishjalmr makes the wearer invincible in battle. The 8 "spokes" of the wheel are Algiz runes, which symbolize protection and defense. Each Algiz had 3 hatch-marks bisecting them. These marks represent the 24 runes in the Elder Futhark. The Aegishjalmr was considered to be the strongest runic talisman because it combined 8 Algiz runes with the entire futhark.

Although not traditionally seen this way, I decided to add the futhark around the border because I really like how they look combined. It seems more balanced to me this way.

Minus the use of a different "Ing" rune this is perfect

Wow, very accurate. It looks great! Is there a hanger from behind to wear it as pendant or was it used to wear it in a pocket or something?

Thank you! It's a little too big to wear, it's more for decorating my altar than anything.

Thank you! I might make another in the future, and this time I'll be sure my marker is red and not magenta, whoops! You may notice that the Aegishjalmr is a bit more purple than the runes. I accidentally inked it in magenta and didn't notice until I had it out in the sunlight, so I had to go back over every line with red. Very tedious, but it's not as noticeable now.

Cool AND historically accurate! You should totally make one for your LARP thing. If the leather you have is too dark for permanent markers to show up, nail polish might work though I've never tried it myself.
